We are five months deep into 2020, better known as the year Stephen King wrote, and I think we need a break from the world of viruses, murder hornets, and social distancing. Today, I give you the “Some Good News” article inspired by John Krasinski’s new YouTube channel, Some Good News which updates and inspires the viewers with positive stories from around the world.
Messages of Love
In Fresno, California Jordan and Ethan Marshall experienced true heartbreak in 2018 when they lost their first son at birth. March, 2020 they were expecting their second son, when Jordan had to be admitted to the hospital seven months pregnant with pre-eclampsia. Due to the visitor restrictions from COVID-19, Ethan wasn’t allowed in the hospital. Ethan had enough of just texting Jordan every day and began leaving her messages on the pavement outside her hospital window. Ethan is extra.
They Say It’s Your Birthday
Having a birthday during a global pandemic, while social distancing, is obviously going to be very different from normal. Communities all around the country are coming together to still make birthday’s special with drive-by birthday parades. Proving once again that it’s about the effort and not the gift.
The Ultimate Delivery Man
Carrie Blasi was over the moon after a kindhearted FedEx worker took the extra step to sanitize a package delivered to her home. Blasi has an 11-year-old daughter who has Type 1 diabetes, so she posted a sign on her door that read “Someone in this house has an autoimmune disorder.” After cleaning the box, the delivery man left a note stating that the box had been sanitized and told the family to stay safe. Hero bells.
Ring The Hero Bells
According to the Chicago Tribune, Esteban Burgoa, an Iraq War veteran, is going the extra mile to ensure people receive an adequate number of face masks. After learning masks were running low in mid-March, Burgoa spent a night teaching himself how to sew. That same night, he created a mask. The next day he purchased the materials he would need to make hundreds more. Now, together with fellow Latino immigrants, Burgoa plans to make 1,500 masks. ALL THE HERO BELLS!
Selfless High School Junior
Andrew Sabol is a junior at Salisbury High School in Pennsylvania. Andrew noticed there was a shortage of PPE needed for first responders, so he used his 3D printer to create his own prototype of face masks. So far, he has created 6 masks and 12 filter devices. This kid is definitely going places.
Pet Parents
Americans have stepped up by the tens of thousands to adopt, foster or just clean cages at their local shelters as social distancing, combined with reduced staffing, has closed facilities to the public and sent adoption processes online. When Dumb Friends League, a private animal shelter in Denver, put out a call for volunteers to foster dogs, cats, bunnies, guinea pigs and even horses, more than 2,200 people signed up.
Don’t Drink Your Hand Sanitizer
Tito’s Handmade Vodka is gearing up to start making its own hand sanitizer and plans to give the product away for free to those who need it most. The company plans to make an initial 24 tons of hand sanitizer during the upcoming weeks. The company also announced that it would donate $2 million toward coronavirus relief efforts, giving half of the donation to organizations that focus on the service industry including CORE, USBG Foundation, Southern Smoke, and World Central Kitchen. The other $1 million will be donated as further needs become clear during the outbreak.

Matthew McConaughey along with his family, hosted a virtual bingo game for residents at a senior living home in his home state of Texas and it’s just the most wholesome thing you’ll ever see.
